Buy Wine – the most important Tuscan wine event – is going to take place inside the Spadolini Pavilion, at the Fortezza da Basso, on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th February 2018. 215 wine growing companies coming from the regional label territories will meet 190 buyers from 39 countries, led by the USA, Canada, China, Denmark, South Korea and Brazil. Among the new entries, buyers from Azerbaijan, Colombia, Morocco, Lebanon, Peru and Thailand. After some years, of absence, organisers happily welcome back buyers from Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine.
Among the Tuscan companies, the majority come from Siena (78) and Florence (59), but all territories are represented, and no less than 65 wine growing companies are organically managed. These successful figures bode well for this edition which, like the past ones, offers buyers the opportunity to visit 14 production areas through eight educational tours scheduled for Sunday, 11th and Monday 12th February 2018.
On Saturday, 10th February, popstar Sting and his wife Trudie Styler will introduce Anteprime di Toscana 2018, and event organized, like Buy Wine, by the Region of Tuscany in co-operation with PromoFirenze. Spotlight on the previews of 16 Tuscan consortiums responsible for wine protection.
The 7th Elected Assembly of Cia Toscana – named “Sguardo al Futuro” (Overlooking the Future) – will take place in the Sala Verde (Green Hall) of Palazzo dei Congressi on Thursday, 8th February 2018 at 9.00 a.m. After an opening speech by Giampiero Maracchi, President of the Accademia dei Georgofili, the programme features speeches by Cecilia Del Re, Councillor for the Economic Development of the Florence Municipality, Matteo Biffoni, President of Anci Toscana, Eugenio Giani, President of the Regional Council of Tuscany. Paolo De Castro, Vice-President of the European Parliament Agriculture Committee, and Nicola Danti, Member of the European Parliament, will also join the Assembly via video conference.
After a tasting of typical Tuscan products curated by Cia agri-chef Lia Galli, work will continue with a debate and conclusions by Dino Scanavino, President of Cia. The programme will also feature speeches by other public figures and representatives of agricultural organisations, trade-union and political co-operatives of the hunting organisations and of other institutional, economic and social representations.
