Works to restore the Fortezza da Basso have just started. The Municipality approved an executive project for the first restoration lot, for a total amount of 2 million Euros. Resources come from the so-called Patto per Firenze (Pact for Florence) signed in November 2016 by Mayor Dario Nardella and the then Fist Minister Matteo Renzi. Interventions concern the restoration and enhancement of the external walls between the Rastriglia rampart, the Bellavista rampart and the Soccorso alla Campagna Gate, on the side of the Piazzale Montelungo car park.
Works are set to start at the end of summer and will last a little less than one year. Conservative restoration works of the external faces will be carried out, along with other securing interventions for the areas related to them and all the archaeological insights required to enhance parts of the patrol paths and of the countermine galleries located at the bottom of the ramparts.
The recovery plan provides for the implementation of pathways and itineraries for public use, which will be tested starting right from the construction site.
From 12th to 15th June 2018, spotlight on PITTI UOMO no.94, the reference international event for contemporary menswear and lifestyle. A constantly evolving world, ready to anticipate and represent new fashion trends through a wide range of projects and innovative proposals.
1,240 brands will participate in this event, 561 of which coming from abroad (45% of the total number) spread over a reedited space geography, enhancing areas devoted to forward-looking fashion trends. Projects interpreting the outdoor universe in an unusual way redefine the lifestyle linked with the so-called athleisure and enhance makers from all over the world. The event will also feature the new wave of talents from Northern Europe and proposals from Eastern Europe, avant-garde styles and the excellence of cutting-edge design. And let us not forget the best new classic companies and brands relaunching sportswear modernity. All this within the unique atmosphere of the Pitti Immagine exhibitions.
The common thread of the summer 2008 Pitti Fair is P.O.P., meant as Pitti Optical Power, a virtual and visual party exploring new horizons of perception and the perspective of things through moving and wavy lines, like a full color pattern kaleidoscope making the facilities inside the Fortezza da Basso even more joyful and hypnotic.
The special guest of Pitti Uomo 94 will be Roberto Cavalli, coming to the Fortezza to launch his new menswear project worldwide with a special event – on Wednesday, 13th June – organized with the distinguishing style of the brand and dedicated to its new path.
