Spotlight on the 20th IEA World Congress (International Ergonomic Association), to be held from 26th to 30th August 2018 and organised in co-operation with the Società Italiana di Ergonomia (SIE – the Italian Ergonomic Association). The topic of the 2018 congress, organised every three years, will be “Creativity in Practice”, a reference to the classical Italian innovation path challenge, aiming at turning the innovation research results into practical actions to improve life and work quality.

The European Federation FEES supported the candidature of Florence and Firenze Fiera as the only possible European competitor for the congress. Already during the first turn, the Tuscan capital had won over competitors such as Whistler Mountain in Canada, Mumbai and Istanbul, with over 50% of votes.

Established in 1961, IEA studies and improves life quality by reducing any possible harmful impact on workers’ physical and mental wellbeing. In 2015, the congress took place in Melbourne. Around 2,000 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the event – specialists in the field but also from other sectors such as health, work, design, agriculture, technology and engineering.
