Guided tours of the Fortezza da Basso thanks to the MUS.E Foundation

Florence, June 25th, 2025. With the arrival of the summer, the history of Florence comes alive once again with vibrancy and appeal thanks to guided tours organized by the Municipality of Florence and the MUS.E Foundation.
Included in the rich calendar of tours planned at the city’s most important towers, gates and fortifications, key to Florence’s unique urban development, are guided visits to the Fortezza da Basso, in collaboration with Firenze Fiera. The Medicean fort, now dedicated to the exhibition and congress district, will be open to the public and accessible on July 25th, August 29th and September 26th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Other sites of extraordinary interest open to the public include Forte Belvedere, which can be visited daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with guided tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. until October 15. The discovery of the secrets of the Fortress, originally built as a fortified citadel in the late 16th century to strengthen the city’s defense system, is made possible thanks to the Firenze Forma Continua project, which promotes citizens’ right to know and experience the city’s cultural heritage.
The program continues with Porta San Frediano, open to the public until July 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (with tours every 30 minutes). Throughout August, San Niccolò Tower will be open during the same hours (tours every 45 minutes), while the month of September will be dedicated to Porta Romana, with tours running from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (every 30 minutes).
All tours are available for individuals aged 8 and up, at a cost of €6 per person, and are free for holders of the Card del Fiorentino.
