Award Ceremony for the Florence Ambassador Award – Thursday, 26th October 2023, at Palazzo Vecchio

Congresses

Florence, 26th October – The Florence Ambassador Award will take place today inside the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio. This event is promoted by the Municipality of Florence in co-operation with Destination Florence Convention & Visitors Bureau, Firenze Fiera, and the Chamber of Commerce of Florence, supported by OIC Group.  It is a prestigious event, created to thank nineteen Florence Ambassadors – leading figures in the academic and scientific field – who attracted important events in the city, contributing to the success of the Florence Meeting Industry, such as congresses on the latest frontiers of robotics, cardiovascular care, minimally invasive surgery, and veterinary medicine.

In 2023, Florence was appointed to host 12 high-profile international congresses, generating an overall economic impact estimated at about 28 million Euros, and over 15,000 expected participants. A result of bids developed by Firenze Convention Bureau in co-operation with Firenze Fiera, these events will take place between 2024 and 2028, building the backbone of the Florence congress programme for the next years.

The Florence Ambassador Award will start at 18.00, opened by Sara Funaro, Welfare Councillor for the Municipality of Florence. Other speeches will be given by Lorenzo Becattini, President of Firenze Fiera, Jacopo Vicini, President of Destination Florence Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Carlotta Ferrari, Director of Destination Florence Convention & Visitors Bureau. Ambassadors will be awarded by Alessia Bettini, Deputy Mayor and Culture & Tourism Councillor for the Municipality of Florence, and by Giovanni Bettarini, City Councillor for Productive Activities, Congresses and Exhibitions.
