Florence, 15th September 2022. The 28th edition of ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO will open tomorrow inside the magnificent setting of the Corsini Gardens in Florence. Promoted by Associazione Giardino Corsini (Corsini Gardens Association) – chaired by Sabina Corsini along with Neri Torrigiani, creator and organiser of the exhibition – it will showcase over 90 artisan shops along with many new entries, on show for the first time in Florence, with a special attention to the emerging generations, selected between Italy and various European countries.
The exhibition winds through the gardens – where exclusive pavilions are set up with hand-decorated canvas – the Limonaie (Orangeries), and some representative rooms on the ground floor of the Palace. This commercial event is enriched by installations, workshops, cultural and “gourmet” events, offering a complete overview of high-quality savoir-faire, as well as an up-to-date reflection upon the role of artisans in contemporary society.
Preservation of the independence of artisan shops, social value of master artisans and maximum commitment to sustainability – these are the three main assets of this new edition of the exhibition, as stated by Sabina Corsini and Neri Torrigiani. “The contemporaneity of artisans cannot be judged only according to the technological innovations they bring, but also and above all for their example of sustainable choices”.
The Ballroom of the Palace serves as the setting for the main exhibition named “CONCIAPELLI. Eredi di un’arte maggiore” (TANNERS. Heirs of a Major Art), curated by the ‘Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale’ (Genuine Vegetable Tanned Italian Leather Consortium), the only district recognised worldwide for this special type of high-quality processing.
Among the multiple initiatives on schedule, the new Artex exhibition, dedicated to the excellence of glass in Tuscany, the presentation of the results of the survey for the project “Gentilezza e Sostenibilità” (Gentleness & Sustainability), “Ricette di Famiglia” (Family Recipes) with the participation of chefs-teachers from the Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts in Florence. Particular attention will be given to younger people, with the contest “BLOGS & CRAFTS”, aimed at crafts under 35, with the co-operation of World Crafts Council Europe.
