The Gotha of Italian Orthodontics to Meet at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence for the 53rd International Congress of the Italian Society of Orthodontics – October 13-16, 2022

Florence, 10th October 2022. The International Congress of SIDO (Società Italiana di Ortodonzia – Italian Society of Orthodontics) is back at the Fortezza da Basso from Thursday, 13th to Sunday, 16th October 2022. Having now reached its 53rd edition, it is a non-stop four-day event seeing the presence of the main Italian orthodontics societies and featuring the most important lecturers from the orthodontic world on an international scale. In conjunction with this event, the 8th Congress of MOIP (Mediterranean Orthodontic Integration Project) will also take place from Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th October, chaired by Prof. Letizia Perillo, Junior Past President of SIDO, and seeing for the first time the participation of representatives from the countries overlooking the Mediterranean.

“Italian orthodontics has reached a very high level and is renowned all over the world, thanks also to its journal “Progress in Orthodontics”, the most cited all over the world among the sector publications – says Prof. Mauro Cozzani, President of the Congress. “Over 2,000 participants coming from 52 countries will gather at the Fortezza da Basso for the 53rd SIDO Congress to discuss and debate on the latest news and achievements in terms of orthodontics, sharing extremely interesting and productive moments”.

“The work of orthodontists – continues Cozzani – is increasingly becoming a teamwork, seeing not only the participation of clinicians from different branches of dentistry, but also of technicians, hygienists, and assistants working in dental clinics. Overcoming preconceptions and barriers from the past, we have decided to invite them too in Florence. It is no coincidence that we have chosen the motto “Together with” as the title /leitmotiv of the congress to confirm the interdisciplinarity of our medical science. There will also be room for the young, to whom the Rising Stars section is dedicated, offering everyone the opportunity to improve and enhance their clinical performances”.
