Florence/Lanciano, September 25, 2026. The deadline is approaching to register and take part in the training events of the Scientific Programme of DIDACTA ITALIA – Abruzzo Edition, a spin-off of the national edition, scheduled from October 21 to 23 at the Lanciano Fiera exhibition centre (Chieti).

With just under a month to go before the event, the registration deadline is approaching for teachers, school principals, educational and administrative staff, and local government representatives wishing to attend the training seminars and workshops, organised with the scientific partnership of INDIRE and focusing on the main challenges facing education, with particular attention to the specific characteristics of the region.

In this regard, Abruzzo, characterised by a widespread network of small towns, inland and mountain areas, provides a significant context for exploring the issue of small schools, which are becoming increasingly relevant in light of the progressive decline in the number of students.

At Didacta Italia – Abruzzo Edition, the topic will be addressed through dedicated sessions offering proposals and tools to innovate teaching methods, school organisation and relationships with the local community.

The workshops “Small Schools and Inland Areas: Innovating in Fragile Contexts,” scheduled for October 21 at 2:30 p.m., and “Spaced Learning for Competencies: New Horizons for Inclusive Teaching in Multi-Grade Classes,” taking place on October 22 at 1:00 p.m., offer two complementary perspectives for rethinking education in the most fragile and peripheral contexts. The first invites participants to reflect on the role of the school as a cultural and social hub, capable of fostering development and cohesion in less central areas; the second offers a practical pathway for designing lessons using the AIC approach, adapting Spaced Learning to multi-grade classroom settings and integrating the principles of neuroscience with those of personalised education.

Likewise, the conference “Multi-Grade Classes Between Disciplinary and Transversal Learning – Competencies and Teaching Innovation in Schools Facing Demographic Transition,” scheduled for October 23 at 9:30 a.m., will address the role of multi-grade classes in schools undergoing demographic transition, exploring teaching and planning strategies capable of enhancing classroom diversity and integrating disciplinary learning with transversal skills.

The Scientific Programme also extends its focus to the earliest stages of the educational pathway, with particular attention to the 0–6 age range, where the design of learning environments and activities, as well as discussion around new technologies and digital languages, play a central role.

Among the training activities, the seminar “Building Continuity in the 0–6 System: Experiences in Abruzzo Between Experimentation, Action Research, the Educating Community and Teaching Innovation,” scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on the first day of the fair, will provide an opportunity to discuss experiences developed across the Abruzzo region and pathways for continuity and collaboration within the 0–6 system.

On the same day, at 3:45 p.m., “The Roots of 0–6: Parity Schools as the Cradle and Driving Force of the Integrated System” will explore the role of private accredited schools in building the integrated system. On October 22 at 2:45 p.m., “Emotional Gyms: Designing and Delivering SEL Pathways from 0–6 to Primary School” will focus on the development of socio-emotional skills and the design of educational pathways from early childhood through primary school.

The ticket costs €16, €25 or €30, depending on the duration of participation: one, two or three days, respectively. Participants can book up to two training events per day, choosing between seminars and workshops, in addition to attending without limits the events organised by exhibitors and companies.
