Didacta Italia – Abruzzo Edition: tomorrow is the last day to attend the event on innovation in education
Didacta Italia – Abruzzo Edition is continuing successfully at the Lancianofiera exhibition centre in Lanciano (Chieti), where it will remain open until tomorrow, Friday, 23 October.
The final day, hosted in the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” Main Hall, will feature a programme of key events focusing on educational experiences, projects and best practices for schools. Topics will range from innovative teaching approaches in multigrade classrooms to initiatives addressing the specific needs of the Abruzzo region, as well as services promoting student inclusion and well-being.
At 9:30 a.m., the conference “The Multigrade Classroom: Subject-Specific and Cross-Curricular Learning. Skills and Teaching Innovation in Schools During the Demographic Transition” will explore educational opportunities and innovative teaching methods in multigrade classrooms. Following institutional greetings from INDIRE and the National Movement of Small Schools, Alessandro Rosina, Full Professor of Demography at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, will examine the impact of the demographic crisis on the school-age population, with a particular focus on Abruzzo.
The programme will continue with presentations by Donatella Malafronte, a teacher at the “L. L. Lambert” School Directorate in Oulx (Turin), on social and emotional skills in multigrade classrooms; and Alessandro Piacentini, a teacher at the “Jole Orsini” Comprehensive Institute in Amelia (Terni), and Stefania Biagerini, a teacher at the Alto Casentino Comprehensive Institute in Pratovecchio Stia (Arezzo), on innovative approaches to mathematics teaching and peer learning. The conference will conclude with a question-and-answer session and an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
At 11:00 a.m., also in the Main Hall, the event “Educating in Local Communities: Voices and Perspectives from Abruzzo’s Inland Areas”, organised by the Abruzzo Regional Government and the Abruzzo Regional School Office, will take place. Through personal accounts and practical experiences, the event will explore the future of education in inland areas, focusing on the role of small schools, research, innovation and new ways of organising educational provision.
The Abruzzo Regional Government will also feature prominently at its institutional stand in the Celestino V Pavilion, with a programme of in-depth sessions complementing the Main Hall events. Among these, at 11:30 a.m., the session “School Nurses in Abruzzo: Pilot Project” will address nursing care in schools for students with disabilities and healthcare needs. The presentation will showcase the region’s experimental school nursing project and examine how the service is activated, the role of schools, coordination with healthcare services and the responsibilities of the professionals involved.
Teaching innovation and educational outreach will also take centre stage in the #socialprof area of the Flaiano Pavilion, which will welcome two popular figures among school audiences tomorrow. At 11:30 a.m., Maestra Giulia will present “Grammar as a Workshop”, followed at 12:30 p.m. by Maestro Libero with “New National Guidelines for Music Education”. Both sessions will focus on methods and tools designed to make learning more engaging and bring teaching practices closer to students’ interests, learning styles and needs.
