MIDA90: grand finale at the Fortezza da Basso featuring artisan excellence, history, and the flavors of tradition
Florence, April 30, 2026. The 90th edition of the International Handicrafts Fair is preparing to experience its final weekend at the Fortezza da Basso, confirming itself until Sunday, May 3 as the beating heart of excellence in “know-how,” both “Made in Italy” and international.
This year’s exhibition itinerary has offered an immersive journey through different cultures and innovation, where artistic craftsmanship has engaged in dialogue with design, fashion, and food & wine.
Particularly appreciated is the exhibition “The Fair within the Fair: 90 Years between History and Future,” hosted in the Cavaniglia Pavilion. Curated by the Historical Archive of the Tuscany Region with coordination by Artex, the exhibition has allowed visitors to retrace the evolution of the event, creating a bridge between the historical memory of craftsmanship and new future perspectives.
The closing day on Sunday, May 3 will be marked by the recognition of artisan work and Florence’s historical tradition. The celebratory morning will open at 11:30 a.m., on the top floor of the Spadolini Pavilion, with the presentation of an award to Beatrice Trambusti, honored for her 40 years of work as a trippaia (tripe seller).
This will be followed at 12:00 p.m. by Paolo Gori celebrating the 125th anniversary of the historic Trattoria Burde, a cornerstone of the city’s gastronomic culture. The Mayor of Florence, Sara Funaro, is also expected to attend, in testimony to the deep connection between institutions, the fair, and the city’s economic and productive fabric.
