Presented in L’Aquila: DIDACTA ITALIA – Abruzzo Edition, the fifth spin-off of Didacta Italia
L’Aquila, June 22, 2026. Abruzzo is at the center of the Italian school education world thanks to Didacta Italia, which from October 21 to 23, in the exhibition halls of Lanciano Fiera, will stage the fifth regional spin-off of the most important and innovative event in school education.
The event was presented by the Regional Councillor for Education of Abruzzo, Roberto Santangelo, and by the president of Firenze Fiera, Lorenzo Becattini, with contributions from the president of INDIRE, Francesco Manfredi, the Regional Education Office, and the president of Lanciano Fiera, Ombretta Mercurio.
Didacta Italia – Abruzzo Edition will follow the same path as the national event, which has been held every March since 2017 at the Fortezza da Basso exhibition center in Florence. It is an event aimed at all levels of education: ages 0–6, primary school, lower and upper secondary school, vocational institutes, ITS (Higher Technical Institutes), universities, scientific research institutes, and professional training institutions.
“The education sectors in which Didacta traditionally operates,” explains Councillor Roberto Santangelo, “give an idea of the importance this event holds in the world of schools and training. Every year Didacta introduces new teaching tools and innovative communication techniques that have a strong impact on the school system and represent an important resource for many teachers. In October, Abruzzo will be the main protagonist of this world, placing itself at the center of a crossroads that involves not only the school system but also higher education, including universities, ITS, and research institutes.”
“The regional spin-off of Didacta Italia has reached its fifth edition after successful experiences in Catania (two years), Bari, and Riva del Garda. In Abruzzo, the Lanciano trade fair will host the event, which is expected to bring more than thirty thousand teachers and education professionals over the three days to the exhibition center. These are just some of the figures behind the event, but they are enough to show the scale of a manifestation that ‘grows year by year’.”
Not by chance, the president of Firenze Fiera, Lorenzo Becattini, emphasized that “also in the Abruzzo edition, Didacta Italia will maintain its profile based on dialogue that directly involves local territories and on its ability to lay the foundations for a cultural project dedicated to schools, aimed at raising the level of education through teacher training. Florence and Tuscany continue to play a coordinating role in building a national network capable of connecting experiences, skills, and best practices.”
Francesco Manfredi, president of INDIRE—the national institute responsible for innovation and educational research in Italy—spoke about the importance of “the territorial cross-pollination of Didacta Italia.” “These are major challenges,” he added, “which we are confident Abruzzo will be able to carry forward and succeed in.” In the same spirit, Ombretta Mercurio, president of the Lanciano Fiera organization, highlighted that the organizational structure of the fair will be fully mobilized to “win a demanding challenge.”
DIDACTA ITALIA – Abruzzo Edition is organized by Firenze Fiera and supported by an organizing committee coordinated by Anna Paola Concia, which includes the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Region of Abruzzo, the Municipality of Lanciano, the Municipality of L’Aquila, the Regional School Offices of Abruzzo, Molise, Marche, and Puglia, the University of Chieti-Pescara, the University of L’Aquila, the University of Teramo, Abruzzo ITS Academy, ITS Moda Pescara, ITS L’Aquila, the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, ITS Teramo, ITS Most Academy, ITS Mark, with INDIRE as scientific partner and Didacta International as partner.
